Making a Change, or What about Living Your Potential?

Human Potential

We thought we had done it all when we ran the 4-minute mile, went to the moon, learned how to read 25,000 words per minute, built the Egyptian pyramids (still boggling today's best minds) … The list could go on.

We are always seeking to reach our own highest potential as individuals. We think if we go to college or learn a rare skill and make it big in life, stand above the crowd in some area of achievement – that will do it for us.

And when we’ve done that? We are still unhappy! That voice in our head starts chattering at us, saying "not good enough…not big enough…not rich enough…not ENOUGH!"

And – we are listening to that awful voice (I call it Ego noise) belittling our achievements and our goodness!

Because we are never happy with the little slice of life we are living, we go back and try something else to “reach our highest potential”. And over and over. We end up calling it a pipe-dream.

In my work in the self-growth arena (and I mean not only my work with others, but working on myself), I really got to understand that humans self-limit in all sorts of unbelievable ways. Releasing the Ego noise helps. Then you listen less and less often – stop believing – that you cannot. No matter what the subject. No matter what the dream or goal.

Ego's noise? Here are some ways it bothers us:

  • We convince ourselves that "I can't" is true…in spite of a long human history to the contrary.
  • We listen to all manner of negativity, scandal, melodrama and madness every day and call it normal…in spite of what the Highest Part of our Being is whispering to us when we get really quiet and listen.
  • We are persuaded by that noisy voice in our head that we'll never make it, never do it well enough…even though we are indeed all Experts in something!
  • We tell ourselves that we'll be laughed at for trying anything that stretches "who and what" our friends and family think we are…even though trying and achieving the thing is all we dream of day and night.

Illusion versus Reality

Deciding to do self-expansion work, we can come to realize that negativity (beliefs in inability or any kind of obstacle) is the illusion. And that happiness is the reality.

Happiness, unlimited living (and I’m not just talking about money), inner serenity and Freedom all the time can become normal for you. Even when naysayers tell you that you cannot ever have it.

A quiet Happiness from knowing you control your own abundance can become normal for you, even though that’s more than most people even dare dream of.

The best self-expansion work will, at its best, firstly give you hope that you can indeed make a change in your life. Secondly, it should give you the tools to do it yourself.

Because what is reaching for your highest potential, but deciding to make the changes in yourself, in your thinking, in your habits and in how you feel about your life and living?

Allow yourself to dream big, have it big, and be happy. Give yourself the self-expansion tools or programs that allow you to grow. See how far you can reach. Set your sights very high.

Golda Meir said it: "Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames ofachievement."
